Texas Trailblazers: Firefly Aerospace

Main Room
March 11, 2025
315 Lavaca St, Austin, TX 78701

The Blue Ghost lander, built by Firefly Aerospace of Cedar Park - a “Satellite City” just outside of Austin, Texas - successfully touched down on the moon at 3:34 AM ET on March 1, 2025.

In our welcome session on “Texas Trailblazer’s Day” we’ll hear from Shea Ferring, CTO of Firefly, about what it felt like to successfully land their spacecraft on the moon, marking only the second private mission to achieve the milestone – and the first to do so upright. This team of innovators and trailblazers exemplifies the spirit of Texas Pioneers and we’re proud they’ll be kicking off this momentous day at the inaugural Texas House!

SESSION RECAP

Shea Ferring, CTO of Firefly Aerospace, joined us on Texas Trailblazers Day to share what it felt like when the Blue Ghost lander successfully touched down on the moon at 3:34 AM ET on March 1, 2025. As only the second private mission to reach the lunar surface—and the first to land upright—this achievement cements Firefly Aerospace and Cedar Park as key players in the future of space exploration.
