Texas plays a vital role in helping protect our country. The Lone Star State has the third-highest concentration of active-duty military members in the country, across 15 active military installations, plus the U.S. Army Futures Command headquarters. These installations contribute more than $151.2 billion to the TX economy and $89 billion in gross domestic product. Not to mention, some of the world's largest defense contractors continue to grow their operations in the state with TX leading the nation in defense spending and billions of dollars allocated in government contracts to Texas companies each year. In this panel, we’ll discuss the role “Satellite Cities” play as vital homes to these companies given their available land for development, easy access to adjacent major metros, affordable housing and cost of living and how hubs for innovation, research & development contribute to their success.
