Midwest House, formerly known as “Michigan House,” was born in an East Austin backyard at SXSW 2015. A small collective of friends teamed up with 12 organizations to create a home-away-from-home for Midwesterners at the festival. After nine years and multiple iterations, Midwest House has become something different. Something more defined, intentional, and polished. It has become a platform for innovative companies, a launch pad for artists and ideas, and a storytelling tool for the region itself. It's come a long way from the backyard, yet so much of what we strive for – the relationships, the creativity, and the vision – has been therefrom the beginning.

This year, we’re excited to co-locate with Texas House to showcase how much this activation has helped to build relationships across state lines - and regions! - and countries!

We connect entrepreneurs with the right investors.Even for brilliant entrepreneurs with world-changing solutions, getting funded is harder than it should be. This simple realization prompted us to create Funded House as an entrepreneur/investor networking event at SXSW in 2019.Five years later, after our fourth official SXSW event and two international investor-matching trips, we’ve become so much more than just an annual event. Now we simultaneously build relationships with venture capital firms, making sure we understand their thesis and preferred deal size, while assessing the viability of startups with demonstrable traction in order to provide the right match.
